Newspaper Workshop
What is planned?
We make a community newspaper! You can report on your own topics with photos and texts. We will meet for this on four weekends – 3./4.9., 17./18.9., 8./9.10. and 5./6.11. First we will get to know each other and exchange information about what we find interesting about Suhl-Nord. Using examples from other photographers, we will discuss which old or new pictures are suitable for telling our own stories. Between the weekends, there is time to continue taking pictures or looking for other interesting material. There is also the opportunity to get professional guidance at open editorial meetings.
What's in it for you?
First of all, the workshop is a chance to get to know other current or former residents of Suhl-Nord and to exchange ideas. The photographers Frieder Bickhardt, Rafael Brix and Carlotta Steinkamp will show you a variety of ways to tell your own stories through pictures and will give you tips on taking photos. Together we will create a newspaper that we will then deliver to all households in Suhl-Nord. In this way, you can also get your neighbors to reflect on your issues with your stories.
How can you take part?
For the workshop you either need old pictures (e.g. from the family album, from the smartphone or your own camera), or you are up for taking new pictures. You do not need any previous experience or a professional camera.
The workshop is free of charge for you! But the places are limited. Therefore, please register no later than the 21st of August.
We speak German and English. If you are able to communicate better in other languages, we will be looking for a person who can provide translation services.
Also if you need child care or something else to attend, feel free to include that and we will try to make it possible.
The workshop will take place in our office on the ground floor of the Ärztehaus in Suhl-Nord (Dörrenbachstraße 22a). Unfortunately, the toilet is not barrier-free.
